Kiss Later

An animated music video for the song “Kiss Later” by Yeojin from LOONA.

I made this animated music video after watching the official music video and getting disappointed that they didn’t push the references to classic animation further. The shots, costumes, and sets in the orignal are clearly made to look like classic cartoons and children’s drawings, but I thought the concept could be pulled off more effectively if they made use of actual animation, so I made this little project for myself.

My main goal was to dial up the bright atmosphere and over-the-top story of the original by using cartoon aesthetics and tropes. I simplified shapes to be easier to animate, pumped up the colours, and included references to iconic scenes from classic cartoons to make the end product seem more like a cartoon from the era the original was inspired by.
