Space Elephant

A zine featuring comics and illustrations made for the fourth-year OCADU illustration thesis class.

The pitch:

Space Elephant is a series of what if’s exploring how the unique human experience might be misinterpreted by alien species when they are presented with only a sliver of information - in this case, the Voyager’s golden record. The name “Space Elephant” comes from the parable of the blind men and the elephant, where each of the men, who have never encountered an elephant, argue about what it is they’re touching but being unable to come to a conclusion because each man is touching a different part of the elephant - similar to how aliens might conceptualize humans based on the incomplete information on the Golden Record.
